Bill: Cloning Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: New Democratic Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2421
Description[?]:
This bill accompanies the "Responsible Animal Research Act" (although, of course, there's no need to vote the same for both.) The NDP supports a lift on cloning restrictions, which could give way to the regulations from the accompanying bill. We feel that this is a prudent use of resources because, since cloning has had only small advances, most (if not all) cloning research is currently being done on animals. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy towards the cloning of human beings.
Old value:: Research in cloning technologies is legal, but regulated.
Current: The cloning of human beings is illegal.
Proposed: Research in cloning technologies is not regulated.

Message | Um, no. Regulated means they won't do awful testing on humans like you might find in some Hollywood movies. Unregulated means you can take my DNA and try to replicate me without having the wherewithall to actually do that, which could easily lead to the creation of me's that have any assortment of diformities, and abnormalities, and that is totally unacceptable. |

Message | To be honest we would like to see a blanket ban on cloning. |
