Message | Why should we pay for another country? |
Date | 15:08:05, June 28, 2007 CET | From | Democratic Social and Labour Party | To | Debating the Foreign Relations Act |
Message | We are a privileged society and occupy an advantageous position in the world. It is our duty to aid the less fortunate in the world. To not do this would be an act of the utmost callousness and cruelty and would cement this nations reputation for ignoring the plight of the poor. Make no mistake, the aid will be heavily monitored to ensure that it goes to the people who need it and to make certain that it does not disappear in the pockets of corrupt officials. By helping nations out of the massive debts that they endure we reduce the drain on our finances in the future. |

Message | Aid makes people lazy and prevents farmers in the poor nations from selling their products. In other words, aid is counterproductive. |
