Message | Halfing the legislative term is too drastic. We could support a decrease to 60 months. |

Message | Halfing the legislative term is drastic because it changes the nature of how the government is run. We could support a 5 year term, but thats our limit. |

Message | What is the problem with this, nothing! If you can't have approval for this long then why are so worried, is the big CLP afraid that some party is gonna beat them, so they should try to hold on for as long as they can? |

Message | Nope, the effects of this bill wouldnt change the length of this term, only the ones after it. The problem is such change is drastic- it is doubling the number of elections, and forces governments to attempt to do what they would want to do in 6 years in just 3. |

Message | Then if your government is smart and can convince a populace or root out a possible despot ,(and like your party stands for, the people are smart and can do anything themselves) then why are you so afraid of voting for this, you still get a lot done in 3 years and if your policies are promising and already returning results or if the current government can convice the populace to their cause, then they would vote for them again, and your party is afraid of losing an election. |
Date | 02:26:53, July 02, 2007 CET | From | HaLeumit Tikvah | To | Debating the Excecutive Term Act of November 2421 |
Message | A despot will have to face up to his actions, be it after 3 years or 6. Longer terms allow the party to fully set our their vision of the country. A shorter term might make it impossible for them to win a further election because they can not get everything done that they deem essential. All parties are afraid of losing elections, ecspecially the ruling party because they fear the new government will undo their work. |
