Description[?]:
This bill allows a patient who suffered serious bodily damage due to the negligence of the performing doctor to sue that doctor for a capped amount of monetary restitution. Examples include serious trauma, internal damage, or death during surgery. Wrong diagnosis of illness, and wrong treatment of illness that results in patients lifestyle seriously altered due to the doctors error. The malpractice suits will be heard before a judge and after both sides have stated the facts involved, the judge decide whether a monetary reward is warranted. If the patient is given restitution it will be capped so as the maximum amount they could receive after the bills are covered will be no more than 40% of the cost of the bills that were incured during the legal preceedings and any follow up treatment that was done in a private clinic. This will allow the patient to recieve some income while they recover and allow the doctor to continue practicing without bankrupting themselves. |

Message | This sounds fairly reasonable, we certainly agree with a cap on monetary damages but what bills are you referring to in the description? Presumably you are referring to legal bills as the NHS is free at the point of need. |

Message | That's correct. Legal bills, bills that may arise if the patient needed surgery performed at a private clinic, and if the injuries were suffered by a doctor in a private clinic. |
