Bill: Foreign Marriage Consistency
Details
Submitted by[?]: New Democratic Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2424
Description[?]:
Currently, our government doesn't involve itself in marriage or civil unions. Because of this, there is no domestic policy with which a marriage should comply in order to be recognized. While this ultimately doesn't change policy, it allows the United Kingdoms of Lodamun to make a statement that we honor the institution of marriage. It is time to remove this contradiction (the necessity to comply with non-existent policy) from our law books. |

Message | It's hard to say what this means for Lodamun. Idealy, we would not let this pass so as to keep out polygamous marriages. However, we combed Lodamun's laws and could not find a specific law that ruled that out. Marriage is defined as either a.) consenting adults or b.) a man and a woman. Frankly, FL doesn't care if its same sex so long as the relationship is stable (and we're not about to open up that can of worms) so what we have here, is useless legislation. It frankly does not matter if we pass this because the federal government stays out of marriage in the first place. |

Message | Does this me we could recognize polygameous marraiges? If that is the case, then we vote no on this bill. |

Message | Currently the government does not involve itself in marriages, so we assume polygamy is allowed. |
