Bill: Local Population Control

Details

Submitted by[?]: New Democratic Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2424

Description[?]:

The New Democratic Party believes that local governments are best fit to encourage or discourage population growth, based on the needs and available resources of the individual Kingdoms.

For instance, should Kregon or Andalay eventually reach a comfortable level of population or even become overpopulated, it would be irresponsible to continue to promote population growth at the State level. Each Kingdom should have the authority to determine how its population needs to grow or shrink and act accordingly.

MessageSurely your argument will go with immigration, afterall immigration boosts the population of the areas the immigrants settle. Maybe we should just wait untill we come to that bridge and wait untill we are 'over-populated'.

MessageFl, this seems to be very hypocritical for you. YOu tried to pass legistlation a number of times encouraging a growth in population and immigration, but now you are switching to letting local governments decide on whether they want immigration or not??

MessageIt is really their problem, isn't it? In fact, it would be hypocritical to vote against this, given that we're for local control %99 of the time. Local governments see the national stance and now they can decide how, where, and how many immigrants they want. They can decide on the tax breaks to encourage growth if they choose. Local governments have to deal with the population problems far more than the national government, why tie thier hands?

Also, the legislation currently in place was proposed by the NP, we supported it and endorsed it because it was the best availible at the time. Now, however, we're presented with a better solution and are embracing it. If that's hypocracy, we'll continue our proud tradition.

Thank you for your steadfast dedication to researching before you weigh in on a topic, ULP. Keep up the good work.
