Bill: Gated Community Equality Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: New Democratic Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2424

Description[?]:

We legislators have seen this bill before, always attempting to allow only the private sector or the state to establish gated communities. Based on this, we can assume that both have adequate reason to set up them.

This bill attempts to give both private parties and the State the ability to set up gated communities, as we see no reason why either should be banned from providing satisfaction, protection, and well-being to the inhabitants of these established communities.

MessageThe government should be able to provide 'model' communities for all income groups in the nation, it should not merely be reserved for the well off.

MessageThat's what we have been discussing previously. Why would the government seek to build gated communities? They don't bring in much money, so why, then, would the government seek to build them? Easy, government provided low income housing. The government would seek to provide housing for those that do not already have it.

We've discussed this in the past, these government sponsored gated communities become no better than ghettos. Despite whatever intentions go into the building of these communities, this is what happens. That is why this bill has failed in the past, it simply makes no sense. The government throws money away in order to create what will eventually become hotbeds of crime and dissent. In order to be successful, a community needs to consist of differing levels of wealth.

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass.
