MessageThe Social Liberal Party is in absolute opposition to this form of legal puritanism. Most of the the ills of recreational drugs only exist when they are illegal, while others would be greatly increased by their criminalization. A case study of this was the US under prohibition. Rather than saving people from themselves the state should certify that it's citizens are informed or at least have access to the necessary information, pertaining to recreational drugs.

MessageThe Social Democratic party believes that the ills of recreational drug use would be much worse if there were no attemts by the governemnt to prevent it. We feel that the comparison with Prohibition in the USA is inappropriate as alcohol taken in moderation does not harm human health whereas recreational drug use invariably does.

MessageThe SDP is simply factually, flatly and objectively wrong. Nobody can recall the last time someone got killed over client market shares for highly addictive prescription drugs. The reason is because they are legal.

The way to solve any drug problem is to end the irrational war on drugs. Prices will drop along with the crime and arms trafficking that is associated with it's cultivation, distribution and consumption, not to mention the political power that drug lords wield. Lastly the destructiveness of recreational drugs would be highly improved with decriminalisation and regulation. During prohibition there were countless cases of deaths associated with botched bootleg alcoholic beverages. The vast majority of drug overdoses and drug related health problems with recreational drugs occur precisely because of the poor, unstable, and unregulated quality of the production of illegal drugs.

In Malivia thankfully drugs are legal and the SLP will be diligent to ensure it remains that way.

MessageWe have never heard of this US or USA but side with the SLP on this matter. The government should not regulate how an adult should treat their own body. Should they destroy it through their own actions then that is their right. We should instead work with the abusers, perhaps getting them involved in the church or other org to teach them the joys of life.

MessageIn response to the SLP, the SDP believes that a government should not give legitimacy to drug use and should instead use all legitimate means possible to curb illegal drug use. We believe that if the social condtions of a country are strong (that is a strong economy and widespread distribution of wealth) the demand for non-prescription drugs will be significantly reduced. We believe the governments' job should be to create these economic and social conditions and then try to prevent the distribution of non-prescription drugs.

In response to the Protectorate party, the SDP believes that if a country is to provide universal health care, then the government has a right to regulate what ciitizens put into their own body. We believe that it is unfair to the tax-payers who fund the health service to have to pay to treat drug abusers whose health problems are self-inflicted. We are in agreement on your second point that the government should assist drug abusers in their rehabilitation.

MessageDrugs should be regulated on the local level. If localities see fit to illegalise them, we applaud them.
