MessageMr Speaker,

We would prefer to see a standard system than more unnecessary devolution, but most definitely a return to Mayoral appointments by His Serene Majesty.

MessageMr Speaker,

Let me assure our Hon Friend that we all feel exactly the same way. Unfortunately, such a measure has already been rejected by this Diet, and we believe this is the best we will be able to get during this parliamentary session.

I yield the floor.

MessageMr Speaker,

The Secularists, who think people who support the separation of Church and State are automatically not Christian, or that the Holy Luthori Empire should ALLOW non Christians to be citizens, are the ones demanding in their half-witted way that you compromise on this.

Sir, brook no compromise with plebeians.

MessageMr Speaker,

Surely my Hon Friend recognises that this bill represents a step in the right direction? It will put a stop to central government forcing mayoral elections onto boroughs where they are not wanted: thus saving the waste of money these elections represent in those boroughs.

I yield the floor.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We will support this bill regardless of the LPP's comments.

I would like to address those comments however. First of all, this notion that the Secularists are not Christians is a complete and utter lie. We accept everyone into this party who share our beliefs, regardless of their religious beliefs, and although I myself am a freethinker, many of our members are Christians who desire equal treatment to all and believe secularism is a way to do that. In fact, I wish for all Diet Christian Secular Party members to stand up right now.

*15 of the 22 Secular Diet members rises*

As you can see, the Secular Party has many religious people in it. We celebrate diversity of opinion and of beliefs. Muslims, christians, jews, hindus, buddhists, and whoever else are all welcome.

I yield the floor.

MessageMr Speaker,

May I assure the Hon Members of the LLP that local councillors will still be elected as normal. It will simply be left to local tradition as to whether the mayor is elected separately (leading to a costly seperate election that usually elects the local sports club's mascot, an independent, or someone who otherwise does not represent the largest party in the council and as such becomes isolated and powerless), elected by the council (which I would expect would be the norm) or appointed by HSM The Holy Luthori Emperor (in the case of prestigious Lord Mayorships of Presbytery capitals and the like).

I yield the floor.
