| The Democratic Rationalists note with dismay that the great Democratic Republic of Aloria has no national animal. For at least two reasons, we believe this is an unfortunate state of affairs: 1) A national animal will be an important symbol for Alorians to rally around, and express their patriotism. 2) Establishing a national animal will help define Aloria's culture. Through our national animal Alorians will, in the words of one famous anthropologist, "say something about themselves, to themselves." Are Alorians cunning like a fox? Or are they wise like an owl? Or are they soft and cuddly like a kitten? For these reasons, the Democratic Rationalists propose that the Senate of the great Democratic Republic of Aloria select and establish a national animal to honor and celebrate. Hail Aloria! |
