Bill: Bill to Usurp Religious Privilege II [BURP II]
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Rationalists (PrCoa)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2431
Description[?]:
Our current policy toward religious education holds that any religion may set up a school, and that those schools are wholly unregulated. As with the issue of religious taxation, this policy creates a privileged, elite, tax-exempt set of religious schools whose students don't even have to possess the basic skills required for success as Alorian citizens. Thus, the Democratic Rationalists propose BURP II, a bill to regulate religious education to require religious schools to meet basic criteria for educational achievement. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The governments stance on religious schools.
Old value:: Any religion may set up a school, with no regulations.
Current: Religious schools are allowed, but are strictly regulated. Only recognised religions may set up religious schools.
Proposed: Any religion may set up a school, but they are strictly regulated.

Message | This policy actually makes sense - and One Nation believes every student must have basic educational requirements once they leave school. However if this law is passed so should the Education System as a whole. One Nation will propose a motion in conjunction to this legislation. |

Message | Government schooling and government school regulation is a waste of taxpayer money and allows for governments to force children into going to schools. Schools hurt children in many ways, first and foremost attacking individualism and free thought. Government schools and government regulation of schools can only hurt children more by regulating what goes into their minds, how they think, and how they act. |

Message | The CP continues to neglect the facts - A regulatory body wouldnt tell private enterprise or religous schools what to do for every little topic - however our nations Education System needs standards - otherwise we will be producing dimwitted graduates who wont be able to access University. The current status quo supports a dying Education System because it is easier then to suck Alorians into believing them - while ONP and DRP supports a progressive Education System that caters for all Alorians. |

Message | Or we will produce free thinkers who revolutionize the world who don't need a University education. The current status quo forces fellow human beings into doing work and suppresses free thinking and free will in all public and a large portion of private schools. |

Message | Revolutionise the world? We are not talking about Terra- we are talking abour Aloria - have you been smoking that green stuff again? The reality is if we do not have a regulatory body the private sector can teach whatever they want - your argument before that parents can choose another school for their children is flawed in so many ways - firstly why should they? We have a social responsibility to ensure schools in our Nation are upto standard and if parents are taking kids to other schools dont you think this should be address? The odds are not all parents would take their child out of that school therefore the private school will still be running. |

Message | Violates separation of church and state. No, no and no. |

Message | MLP has again missed the point - its not a matter of separation of church and state its about providing basic standardised educuation to our young. Secondly we dont want terrorist organisation from infiltrating our education system. Maybe the MLP actually funds Terrorist organisations. |
