Bill: Banning Animal Testing
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2038
Description[?]:
Testing of cosmetic and other products on animals often includes inhuman treatment of the test animal, while many of such tests could be replaced by tests done on speficially grown cell tissue. Knowing these facts the DSP proposes than testing of cosmetic products on animals will be banned in Ikradon, and as much as possible of medical research done on animals be replaced by testing done on specially cultivated cell tissue. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The use of animals in cosmetics research.
Old value:: The use of animals to test cosmetic products is unregulated.
Current: Animals may not be used for testing cosmetics products.
Proposed: The use of animals to test cosmetic products is regulated.

From | | To | Debating the Banning Animal Testing | Message | Unfortunately, it is something that has to be done. If we ban it for cosmetics then soon we'll be banning it when it is used to test medicine. |

From | Democratic Socialist Party | To | Debating the Banning Animal Testing | Message | PEP: Well, there is little more to persude. Animal testing is innescessary, cruel and inhuman, and as noted above, it can be replaced with testing on specially cultivated cell tissue.
OPLS: It isn't something that HAS to be done, not in cosmetic research. Medical research is a different thing, people's lives are at stake there. And this bill does not make animal testing for medical purposes illegal. Should such a bill come up we would oppose it. |

From | Progressive Pragmatists | To | Debating the Banning Animal Testing | Message | Inhuman, they are not human beings, they are animals! But if it is as you say this would not be an infringement upon medical development then....... Our party will rethink its decision, not that it matters as we have no seats! |

From | | To | Debating the Banning Animal Testing | Message | This Bill makes no mention of medical testing at all. Cosmetic experiment on animals is indeed inhuman (the practice, rather than the victims of the crime) the IRP votes for the proposal |

From | Democratic Socialist Party | To | Debating the Banning Animal Testing | Message | Indeed, as the IRP's representative noted, it is inhuman of us human beings to treat other living beings like that, be they of similar intelligense to us or not. |
Date | not recorded |
From | Progressive Pragmatists | To | Debating the Banning Animal Testing | Message | Frist of concerning the definition of inhuman, something is not inhuman if human beings do it. What is unnatural and inhuman is what as an organism we are incapable of doing... Just throwing that out there... |
