Bill: Basic Animal Welfare Bill [BAWB]

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Rationalists (PrCoa)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2431

Description[?]:

It is our responsibility to ensure that animals are not treated with needless cruelty, in accordance with their capacity to suffer. For example, because a dolphin has a large brain, and a complicated central nervous system, we have much reason to believe that dolphins have significant capacity to suffer. Accordingly, dolphins should be treated with a greater mind to prevent suffering than, say, a jellyfish, which, although it no doubt has some capacity for suffering, needs less concern than a dolphin.
