Message | Our ocean's fish are a common resource, and will therefore have all the problems inherent with any common resource. From an individual point of view, it is best for the fisherman to fish as much as he can. If every fisherman took this view, though, then the fish population would plummet drastically and every fisherman would be hurt. Even free market advocates almost always agree that this is one of the times it's necessary for the government to step in and prevent the wanton destruction of a national resource. |
