Bill: The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Forwardist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2038
Description[?]:
The peoples of Dorvik, under the reign of neo-fascists have held massive protests against their new opressive regime. I Implore the peoples of this nation to stand behind the Freedom Fighters, who fight for all of their basic rights. With our aid, they will stop the Xenophobic Nuclear threat to our north, and return the rights of the citizens back to the citizens. With this bill, i also encourage people to vote 'yes' on the recently proposed Asylum Bill. Thank you |

From | | To | Debating the The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill | Message | Sandra Desjardines: We are worried by the current path Dorvik is headed, and I take this moment to note that such a government, if going nuclear, may become extremely aggressive, especially to recently non-nuclear nations like ourselves. |

From | National Forwardist Party | To | Debating the The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill | Message | A unanimous vote for this bill ir requested, and will send a strong message to the Dorvik government and people. It would help if other nations were encouraged to pass similar bills. it is requested that the NDLP (as minister of Foriegn Affairs, and the only one allowed to send messages speaking for the entire country, instead of just an individual party) send messages to the other 15 nations asking them to do so. |

From | Social Calvinist Unionist Party | To | Debating the The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill | Message | We are sorry, but since Labour and allies have comletely wrecked our defences(no nukes, no guns, no right to defend ourselves), if we get Dorvik mad we will stand no chance. Now, if we had a stronger defence force and actual POWER, we would support this, but we are more in favor of not letting our nation fall into chaos and anarchy(which will soon happen, seeing how our police won't have guns to combat the thousands of mafiosos, gang members, and terrorists that will still be armed with heavy weaponry). |

From | | To | Debating the The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill | Message | It is the opinion of the Foreign Affairs Ministry that we should hold censure of Dorvik for its aggressive path. However, untilit has continued down this road to outright aggression, the Ministry will not actively recruit other nations to censure them. It is at the moment, up to the individual nation whether they censure Dorvik or not. |

From | Social Calvinist Unionist Party | To | Debating the The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill | Message | I know there is more to foreign relations than just fighting(OOC: In Real life, I live in a diplomat family[as in my father works for the United States Foreign Service]. I study diplomacy, I debate, I listen to my father for hours, I read, etc), but if you do NOT have the power to enforce your wish upon a more powerful nation, then what influence do you have? We can't give the rebels guns, seeing how we don't even let our OWN people have them, we can't give them money, because that would be trading in another country against the owners wishes, and if we try ANY action that threatens Dorvik in ANY way, we are going to be crushed.
We can try to MEDIATE the conflict and make sure it doesn't get out of hand, offer relief to victims, etc, but as long as we don't wish to be drawn into conflict, we can't take sides.
OOC: By they way, Xenocide is "a science fiction neologism that means an act of genocide directed towards an alien species."(Wikipedia)
The entire planet is inhabited by humans. So they AREN'T committing Xenocide. Genocide, maybe. But not Xenocide. |

From | National Forwardist Party | To | Debating the The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill | Message | Xenophobia, not xenocide. xenophobia is 'the fear of outsiders or the fear of strangers' I don't like the thought of a hostile, introverted, xenophobic country with nuclear weapons. I'm going to do whatever i can to get some rational people in charge over there, and even if all i can provide is moral support and a place to run if it craps out, i will. |

From | | To | Debating the The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill | Message | While we'd normally support any revolutionaries seeking to overthrow an oppressive government, we accordingly fear directly or indirectly damaging the relationship between our nations. |

Anyhoo, it appears that I mis-read. Sorry.
Also, while I see that you mean well, taking sides isn't the best move we can make at the moment. Being the middle-men, helping both sides yet not allying with any, and trying to improve the situation, would be a much better course of action for us.

From | Dorvish Popular Front | To | Debating the The Free Republic of Dorvik Support Bill | Message | I would like to remind all of you that we do not interfere in your elections so stay out of Dorvikian politics! The people voted for us, you cant seriously call us 'nazis' and 'fascists' and then ban us! How hypocritical. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
