Details

Submitted by[?]: Imperial Vodka and Pimm's Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2435

Description[?]:

That citizenship be granted only to those subjects of the Holy Luthori Empire who so deserve it. That citizenship be revoked for those who fail to pass the following test. The following test should be given only to subjects and other persons that reside in Luthori in compliance with current immigration laws.

The test shall include:

-- Proof of completion of national service.
-- Proof of membership to the state church or a church of accepted Christian denominations.
-- Proof of a clean criminal record, including but not limited to fraud, violent or mental health related crimes, religious crimes.
-- Proof of loyalty to the Holy Luthori Empire and His Serene Majesty through the taking of a solemn oath.
-- A written test concerning the history of the Empire, the importance of the traditions of the Empire, the fundamental tenets of the Christian religion, the importance of His Serene Majesty.

(Test to be administered in Luthori only, no foreign language papers allowed. Provision is to be made for disabilities such as dyslexia or where the applicant is unable to write, test may be taken verbally in such cases.)

Caveat: citizenship shall not be revoked for those traditional members of the Luthori aristocracy and landowning classes for a period of at least twenty years. Citizenship is not revoked for members of the clergy of any recognised Christian denomination or the state church. Those persons mentioned in the caveat are therefore exempted from the test.

MessageMr Speaker,

No idea when the buffoons managed to revert this law, but we passed it a decade ago and we shall pass it again.

MessageInstead of making it harder to get citizenship, we should make it easier to remove citizenship. A person that can pass a test (or is born a citizen) but may not be pro our Holy Empire fx a communist is a disadvantage to us & society. but a person that will be a asset to our society can't become a citizen because they might not be good at taking tests

MessageOOC: Whilst I agree with some of what the LLP is saying this game has limited options effectively giving two choices: open citizenship or selective citizenship (which can further be meritocratic or discriminatory). If you really believe what you say you should support the selective meritocracy proposed above, rather than the status quo, given that it is far nearer to your own suggestion.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Due to the dicriminatory way of deciding citizenship as shown in articles 2 and 5, I and my party can not support.

I yield the floor.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow official national flags of real-life nations or flags which are very prominent and recognisable (eg. the flags of the European Union, the United Nations, Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union or the Confederate States of America).
