Bill: A Minimum Wage

Details

Submitted by[?]: Cohesive Socialism Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2438

Description[?]:

This nation has no minimum wage in place at this time, which is unbelievable for a progressive nation these days. We must provide our citizens with both the monetary means to support themselves, as well as the peace of mind in knowing they must be paid a basic wage.

Furthermore, this wage should be suitable to support a family. Without a secure and fruitful family in each home of the nation, we can not expect to sustain long term population growth as the excessive cost of having children will overwhelm the desire to have them.

MessageA society of passive consumers is the only way for the government to get on with the business of governing, and so this bill does satisfy our long-term goals.

MessageTo allow hard-working, dedicated citizens to be unable to support those their families would be a terrible crime. These are not deadbeats or slackers, these are the backbone of our society, and to betray them to squeeze out a few more dollars a day for the well-to-do would be disgraceful.

Random fact: Zardugal is a nation based on the old Byzantine Empire, with a modern twist and the Esperanto language. Zardugal is located on the continent of Majatra.

Random quote: "The moral justification of capitalism does not lie in the altruist claim that it represents the best way to achieve 'the common good.' It is true that capitalism does, if that catch-phrase has any meaning, but this is merely a secondary consequence. The moral justification for capitalism lies in the fact that it is the only system consonant with man's rational nature, that it protects man's survival qua man, and that its ruling principle is justice." - Ayn Rand
