Voting deadline: April 2438
Description[?]:
At the moment, our government is a sort of "last resort" to businesses that are failing but provide a vital role to our economy. When these businesses, run by private citizens, are run into the ground through inefficiency, we are expected to swoop in and take care of them, and then give them back these businesses that they have already demonstrated they are not worthy of. Gentlemen, these businesses are vital. They cannot be trusted to anyone but our own guiding hand. Why should we wait until the private citizenry make a mess of things to take control? We propose that the government handle all these businesses themselves. The private sector is allowed run of the nonvital areas, to be sure, but basic necessities such as food, clothing, and other vital areas should be handed over to us. |

Message | Individual initiative in these fields can create great prosperity, improving our nation signifigantly. These fields do have the chance for failure, however, and we believe our current policy of intervening if this comes to pass is acceptable. Nationalizing these industries upon misstep is not a handout to their leadership, and as long as they do not receive a 'golden parachute' for their spectacular failures, gives us both the dependability of state control if neccesary and the spontanaiety and chances for expansion of private enterprise. |

Message | We feel that certain "natural monopolies" and vital services are best nationalized, so we will support this bill as long as it is not extended too far. |
