Message | We concur 100%......that is that religion is NOT the business of the State. Therefore, why would you want the State to intervene to cap salaries of ministers??? The currently law SEPARATES Religion from the State!!! Thank you!!! |
Date | 16:14:04, August 02, 2007 CET | From | Neo-Epicurean Party | To | Debating the Religious Ministers Income Bill |
Message | The proposal that "The salaries and pensions of ministers of religions shall be regulated by the law, but shall be borne by the religious communities themselves" is logically incoherent and highly susceptible to abuse. A government could use this legislation to suppress a religion by driving its ministers into poverty, or by mandating salaries which the parishoners could not afford. In the opinion of the Neo-Epicurean Party, no good can come of this bill and we strongly oppose it. |
