Bill: First Appointments to the DIKASTERION

Details

Submitted by[?]: Imperial Pluralism Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2440

Description[?]:

Now that the constitution has been passed, we can appoint members to the constitutional court, the Dikasterion. This body can RP veto laws if they are deemed to have violated the constitution. Currently, the constitution outlines very little that the court must protect. Citizens have only the following constitutional rights:
1. To vote and speak in their city assembly.
2. To elect representatives for the national assembly.
3. To run for the offices of their polis.
4. To contest the decision of a magistrate before a trial of their peers.

In addition, some inexact level of federalism is to be kept in order to preserve the city-state system by which the cities have a degree of sovereignty from the Union government.

The constitution can be modified to add rights such as freedom of press, right to medical care, right to employment, etc.

There are seven members of the Dikasterion. I propose the following make-up:
1. AUP
2. AUP
3. AUP
4. SComP
5.SComP
6. CNL
7. CFP
I've based this loosely on the number of seats. In the future, when the legislature is more balanced, these proposals will make more sense and have more weight.

MessageThe SCP has reviewed the correlation between number of seats and those allocated to parties, and finds no fault with the AUP's allocations. Does the AUP wish names to be submitted for the positions?

MessageConsidering that the Fascist party does'nt seem to exist anymore, would it not be more prudent to instead give there seat to the fourth largest party.

Also, would this court change over time to better reflect the differing parties, or would it stay static until one of the member parties leaves?

MessageThe last seat was given to the Civic Freedom Party, not the Sekowo Fascist Party. As I understand it, the court will change after each election.

MessageI don't think that names are necessary. We can figure them out later, in any case.

And yes, I think that we should set seats in the Dikasterion in approximate accordance with the seats in the Apella.

Random fact: Characters are considered to be "owned" by the player who first mentioned or created them. In practice, players may share responsibility for role-playing a character, but ultimate authority rests with the owner.
