Bill: Environmental Moderation Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Maroon Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2094
Description[?]:
Our current policies are ridiculous. The cost of enforcing our highly restrictive pollution laws far exceed any benefit we can gain from them. We propose reducing them to a more moderate level, where the benefits from a cleaner environment are in line with the costs of bigger government and a slower economy. The same goes for recycling. If we have to force people to recycle, that means that the costs of recycling are far higher than the benefit--and this can actually be damaging to the environment, since more resources are used in recycling than would be used if we just produced a new product. The environment is an externality--tax and subsidize, don't abolish. |
