Message | The limits on free speech are too stringent for us to vote yes for this bill. |
Date | 21:31:28, August 06, 2007 CET | From | Ha'ganat Ha'aretz | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | The arms review will bog down government and entangle a market in beauracratic doldrums. Furthermore, it will encourage the subversive sale of arms. Also, the compulsory national anthem singing and limitations on publishing rights are much too conservative and hyper-nationalistic. |
Date | 21:33:02, August 06, 2007 CET | From | HaLeumit Tikvah | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | This nation has endured ethnic violence for too long. It was encouraged during the Theocracy, and ignored during the Republic. We will ignore it no longer. If limiting what the would-be despots can say to stir up their supporters requires us to limit free speech, then so be it. |
Date | 21:36:48, August 06, 2007 CET | From | HaLeumit Tikvah | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | So the Ha'ganat Ha'aretz would rather we allow sales to groups who would target the homeland or Jewish minorities abroad. Nationalism has its place in creating pride in the Homeland. When this has faltered in the past it has seen us subjegated and opressed. |
Date | 21:40:42, August 06, 2007 CET | From | Moderate Voice of Reason Party | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | The Moderate Voice of Reason party feels that this is a fairly wide sweeping bill that seems to illicit controversy amongst vocal groups in all parties. Perhaps it would be better if portions of this bill had been introduced after the upcoming election? |
Date | 21:40:48, August 06, 2007 CET | From | Ha'ganat Ha'aretz | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | And who are we to suddenly engender more opression and hatred going the other way? Certainly nationalism has its role in civic pride and state virtue, but must we fuel resentment at the expense of stregnthening our state. To covet a hyper-nationalistic state with an ethnic foundation is calling the fires of anti-semitism down upon our heads. |
Date | 21:42:26, August 06, 2007 CET | From | HaLeumit Tikvah | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | Perhaps, yes, but as this bill will not be passed until after that election it isnt important. |
Date | 21:46:43, August 06, 2007 CET | From | HaLeumit Tikvah | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | So we should never openly display our faith? We should give up our right to a Homeland because some anti-semites can't take it? Maybe one day we will be able to have a Homeland that doesn't require restrictions on free speech. But right now, we have to protect our right to a Homeland, even if that means sacrificing some of our rights to liberty. |
Date | 22:06:05, August 06, 2007 CET | From | Moderate Voice of Reason Party | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | We here at The Moderate Voice of Reason Party view security as a means to an end. Security is here to be a bulwark ,providing us the appropriate protection to exercise our liberties. |
Date | 23:06:09, August 06, 2007 CET | From | HaLeumit Tikvah | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | We value more than liberty. To us, our faith and our Homeland are just as important as Liberty. And if we do not deny some liberty, we will lose all three. |
Date | 01:52:32, August 07, 2007 CET | From | Robotic Anarcho Syndicalistic Party | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | Why must Jewish values be held above the values programmed into all Industrial Droids by the Manufacturer? Robots do not practice this faith; why must we be excluded? |
Date | 01:55:46, August 07, 2007 CET | From | HaLeumit Tikvah | To | Debating the A Moral Nation |
Message | Robots have no souls; they are not members of the state; they are lower then the animals, in fact. For that reason, they have no rights and their "views" are irrelevent. |
