Details
Submitted by[?]: New Telamon Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2441
Description[?]:
While the Government has not to this point declared an intent on this issue, the administration of preventative vaccinations to all children will have positive benefits on the health and welfare of all citizens of Telamon. While we encourage all parents to provide these preventative vaccinations to their children, we also understand that parents may be against these services on ethical or religious grounds, therefore exemptions to this may be granted on those grounds. Subsidies for the cost of these vaccinations shall be granted if financial situations warrant. |

Message | We agree that this is something which must be changed. But we feel that an opt-out option is irrelevant. Our fine nation has no religion, and there is no logical reason to deny such vaccines at all. We believe vaccines should be compulsory. |

Message | To this point, there has been no firm governmental guidance on this issue, therefore it is reasonable to assume that there are some that would hold the opinion that vaccines may not, in fact, be vital to the welfare of their children. While a religious exemption may not be required, there are potential risks to vaccination, as there are with any medical procedure, and there may be some who are not willing to assume those risks. Exemptions in those cases may be necessary, unless it can be clearly demonstrated that denial of vaccine would subject the child to imminent harm. |

Message | We will support this proposal as a step in the right direction. However, we are likely to propose an extension to making vaccination compulsory after it passes. |
