| Message | What do you mean "they're not really alive"? The 3rd trimester starts at 26 weeks (beginning of the 7th month). How can anyone even doubt a 6-month old fetus is not "alive" when plenty of babies are even born at that age? Either way, United Jakania is a predominantly Muslim country, and abortion is stricly forbidden by Islam, so the Social Religious Party will always be against free abortion. |

| Message | Ask any (good) doctor: When does a person die? When do they cease to be alive? They will tell you: when electrical activity in the brain ceases. Therefore, one could reasonably assume that life begins when electrical activity in the brain begins. We can pinpoint the exact point when this occurs, and legislate that after this point, abortion is illegal, but before it, it is legal. But then there are those who say that it is not alive until it can live on its own. If this is the case, we should be allowed to kill minors, as they 'cannot' live on their own, being minors. What if it has the potential to become alive? Then we should also ban contraception and the morning-after pill. And male masturbation. And ovulation! Anyway, we go with our usual standby of throwing the whole argument out the window, and saying it's legal, they can do whatever they want. Presumably Muslims won't be doing anything that is proscribed by Muslim law, why should we force that on anybody else? And doctors and patients are perfectly free on their own to decide what is moral and what is not, and will presumably not do things that they consider to be amoral. And if there is something we think is amoral and the people think is fine? Then we're wrong! We're not here to oppress them! We're here to do what they want us to do, not the other way around. |
