Status[?]: defeated

Voting deadline: October 2442
Description[?]:
It is sad that we must raise taxes to level ourselves from the negativity of the deficit. However, this is an essential move that we must apply in order to trim the deficit that has grown rather hefty under the last regime. I propose to raise the Corporate Taxes level to 12%. I have a record as Minister of Finance's Assistant in Jakania under Liberal Democratic Party Finance Minister Adlai Stevenson, who was Minister of Finance for nearly 30 years. Under Mr. Stevenson, the Jakanian budget was erased from a 64 billion defict and brought to a comfortable surplus of 88 billion. However, I might add that the corporation tax in that situation was raised from 0% to 40%. The point is, after the taxes have done their duty, it is then that the government can restructure and mold the budget and financial wellbeing of the country. Message | (OOC: Supported) (IC:) Yet another asinine attempt by the FIP to punish those better off for BEING better off. Corporations should not be forced to pay more because of our mistakes in the past. Julia Taylor, Inner Party Leader |

Message | Although I said a proposal by the FIP in regards to finance would most likely be supported by the LPS; I fear another change to the system may destablise the economy. Supreme President Xavier Evans, Party Leader |

Message | While the Essential Goods tax has lifted the nation out of the most recent deficit, a higher Corporation tax will replace part of the burden our citizens must spend on necessities. Taxing citizens for essential goods that they need is only a move that we should consider if every other option is null and void. The Corporation tax is rather low right now. It is the equivalent tax percentage of the citizens Non-Essential Goods tax. I still propose to raise the tax to at least 12%, which will give us room to cut part of the Essential Goods tax down by 4-6%. That way, should you be afraid of damaging the economy, these changes will not upset the balance too much. I can understand that some and or many of you may have hesitations, but I believe that you can trust in a Minister who has over 20 years of experience in the field of finance. Message | How is it funny? Quite clearly, I can't say the act is funny and there's nothing funny about it. Politics are rarely funny unless they're ironic. FIP Senator Vedrin Levish |

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too. |
