The fact of the matter is that third world poverty exists b/c developed nations give WELFARE via "farm subsidies" to ineffecient domestic farmers. As Adam Smith articulated in this brillant masterpiece, "The Wealth of Nations," we should buy agriculture from nations that have a comparative advantage in agriculture like 3rd World countries and they should likewise buy from us where we have a comparative advantage. Here's a solution: let's negotiate an international treaty with 3rd World contries agreeing to outlaw all farm welfare (subsidies) to inefficent domestic farmers, and they agree to import our biotechnology (GM foods) as a service so they can produce more agriculture commodites. In this case, the world is happy. Thank you for your full support!!! |
