Bill: Fewer taxes on Churches
Details
Submitted by[?]: Supporters of Science in Design (IP)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2442
Description[?]:
With the current high surplus, it is not necessary for the State to be taxing religious groups. We would prefer this decision to be granted to the regional governments, so that they can choose to tax or not tax depending on their feelings about religious institutions. However, all legitimate religious groups must be given the same tax rate in a region. |

Message | I am sad to report we wholeheartedly disagree with this Bill. Churches, while important to our communities it seems, should not gain tax exempt status at this time. If Churches are feeling the squeeze perhaps there are other ways to aid them, if that is the will of the people. |

Message | Why? |
Date | 19:28:18, August 10, 2007 CET | From | National Anti-Communist Front | To | Debating the Fewer taxes on Churches |
Message | Churches are a gathering of people who "donate" money to receive a certain service, mostly spiritual. They provide a service and make money so they should be taxed like other entertainment venues. |

Message | The sentiments expressed by my esteemed colleagues from the M.N.P. could not come closer to that view the Malivian National Unity Front holds. |
Date | 00:46:53, August 14, 2007 CET | From | Militarist Party | To | Debating the Fewer taxes on Churches |
Message | The Militarist Party highly supports this bill |
Date | 06:59:57, August 14, 2007 CET | From | Protectorate Party | To | Debating the Fewer taxes on Churches |
Message | The church does the work of the government in aiding the poor, teaching and in general providing a framework of a model citizen. To tax them for this service is absurd. |
