Bill: Equiping our Military

Details

Submitted by[?]: HaLeumit Tikvah

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2442

Description[?]:

While we allow, and in fact encourage, defense industries to develop chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, we are currently in the possesion of none. Given that our technological advancement is limited at best in all areas, it is currently very unprofitable for private defense industries to attempt to develop them.

We therefore propose defence industries relationg to nuclear, biological or chemical weapons are bought by the state, in order to attempt to speed up their development.

This may require the acquisition of new land, so we also propose a change to our eminent domain law.

MessageThis is not apathy, eminent domain is a concept that has no place in law especially as you constantly preach about the private sector and the individual. You can not make a decision beyond concepts that further an agenda towards a state under the thumb of their government.

Not to mention being the all over the place with "THE PRIVATE SECTOR... IN EVERY BILL BUT MY OWN!", it shows that you are only serving yourself and not the people.

MessageWe practically invented the private sector in Beiteynu. But eminent domain, while not fair, will prove to be neccessary if we are to protect ourselves. It was fine not to have it in the Republic, when there was virtually no government projects, but the failure of that is well documented.

The private sector is very important, and the only eason we interfere in it is when it threatens our faith or our Homeland.

MessageYou practically built the private sector yes, in bills as the old party that you have previously said failed and whenever I bring up you swipe it side as "that was the old us".

The private sector is threatening nothing right now, it's threatening peoples homes in what you yourself describe as a third world nation. Defense should be put behind helping the people rather than taking from the people to "protect" them from non-existent threats.

MessageThere are threats. There are parties here that have stated their desire to overthrow the Naczelnik Nasi, and others who refuse to swear loyalty to our great country.

But the threats we seek to protect people from in this bill are so real even you can't deny them. Our neighbours in Pontesi are lead by a Facist Alliance. Facist are generally obsessed with territorial gain and uniting their race. Pontesi has had claims to Tadraki and Endlid for centuries, and there is a large Pntek minority here. We are an obvious target, and we are actually ashamed we have not introduced this bill sooner.

MessageYou mean the Luthori invasion? We wouldn't call Luthori a fascist state, its more of an imperial one.
Or do you mean Barmenistan? I believe they went fascist for a while centuries back.

MessageOf course, the only reason I suggest them is because they are the only two vaguely relevent examples near the Homeland.

We have never sought territorial gain.

Nor are we too fussed in uniting our people. They are strewn all across Terra, and we are not seeking to conquer any of those areas. We only seek to create a safe Homeland, should they find themselves persecuted and need a place to flee.

MessageAt a greater expense of the people is making us sitting ducks to an invasion force. We may be wrong about Pontesian intentions, but we're not going to risk our countries future because the neccessary actions to repel them are undesirable.
