Bill: Voting Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Ha'ganat Ha'aretz
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2442
Description[?]:
A six year mandate is ridiculously long for any power to stay in government. The free exchange of ideas and peaceful transition of power are hallmarks of a democracy. Our current system does not allow for this. Since bills are usually voted on and passed in a fair amount of time (6-8 months), 4 years should be more than enough time to deliver a legislative slate. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The length of a legislative and executive term, in months. Should be between 24 and 72.
Old value:: 72
Current: 48
Proposed: 48

Message | We have been working under the impression we have a six year mandate. As such, we have prepared to propose our reforms over that period, and attempting to introduce them quicker could create further instability in our state. That said, we will support a shortening of terms at the end of this one if you wish. |

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols. |
Random quote: "To the youth of America, I say, beware of being trivialized by the commercial culture that tempts you daily. I hear you saying often that you're not turned on by politics. The lessons of history are clear and portentous. If you do not turn onto politics, politics will turn on you." - Ralph Nader |
