Bill: New Tobacco Regulations
Details
Submitted by[?]: Secular Humanist party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2442
Description[?]:
In consistency with our permissive laws on narcotic substances, we propose to remove regulations on the sale of tobacco. It is the parent's responsibility to control what their children buy, not ours. Likewise, we propose to remove government regulations on the use of tobacco, as we believe it should be the responsibility of the property owner to decide whether or not to allow smoking, not ours. |

Message | Permissiveness is one thing, but most 10 year olds can not make an informed choice on a product that has been conclusively proven to cause serious health problems. The New Telemon Party will not support this bill. |
Date | 07:06:30, August 14, 2007 CET | From | Secular Humanist party | To | Debating the New Tobacco Regulations |
Message | It is not about their abiility to make an informed choice, or not. It is the parent's responsibility to watch their own child, not ours. At present, children who want to smoke will simply convince an older friend to buy cigarettes for them anyway. The current policy is only an illusion. It prevents nothing, and is a waste of time. |

Message | This legislation doesn't go far enough. Not only should smoking be allowed, it should be encouraged or perhaps even mandatory. |
