Bill: The Freedom of Industry Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Liberty Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2442
Description[?]:
Only the free market can determine the viability of new ideas and innovations. We must let economic forces determine which industries are viable, and which are fundamentally unsustainable. If an industry or industrialist is unable to succeed on his own, we must allow him to fail, so new entrepreneurs can develop and implement their own strategies. Subsidizing industry provides an unfair and unearned advantage to businessmen unable to make it on their own. Let's keep the interests of big business separate from our national budget. |

Message | There are, inevitably, some endeavors that serve the greater good which will produce no gain for capitalists. How do you propose Brmék’oék remain modern if no support is given to maintain non-profitable infrastructure like certain transportation methods, research, information technologies, health technologies, and an assortment of other necessities? |

Message | All of those ventures are profitable. If they become unprofitable, that is the failing of the company managing them. We are not in the business of supporting unviable corporations. If they fail, then their assets will be sold to other companies better suited to manage them. |
Date | 02:12:18, August 14, 2007 CET | From | Isolationist Utilitarian Party | To | Debating the The Freedom of Industry Act |
Message | We are not in a business at all, nor are we a business. Whatever must be done to benefit our nation should be done. Whether or not we should ever intervene in the market on practice, it makes no sense to tie our hands preemptively. All options should always be considered |

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators. |
