Bill: Regulation of Pollution Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Lodamun Distributionist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2443
Description[?]:
What good is providing pollution guidelines that for-profit companies cannot be counted on to voluntarily follow? As nearly all pollution regulations involve extra work and less profit for industry, it is against their primary goals to follow these guidelines altruistically. If we actually care at all about curbing pollution and increasing air and water quality in Lodamun, we must set a few law-enforced guidelines. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government regulation of pollution in industry.
Old value:: The government provides pollution prevention guidelines, but does not enforce them.
Current: The government enforces highly restrictive industrial pollution standards.
Proposed: The government enforces moderate pollution restrictions.

Message | That will then damage our economy and will cause companies to make people redundant. |
Date | 22:57:33, August 13, 2007 CET | From | Lodamun Distributionist Party | To | Debating the Regulation of Pollution Act |
Message | I agree it may slow the economy slightly (hence the reason for-profits will never do it voluntarily), but to ensure clean air and water is easily worth a slowing in the long run. As for the alleged redundancy, how would that happen? |
Date | 02:29:44, August 14, 2007 CET | From | The Unified Lodamun Party | To | Debating the Regulation of Pollution Act |
Message | The ULP is confused by the redundancy issue as well. AS with food and safety standards, the ULP originally opposed the passing of this aggrieves law, and will support its change for the positive however we get there. |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
