Bill: Establishment of Fresh and Seawater Fishing Quotas

Details

Submitted by[?]: Lodamun Distributionist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2444

Description[?]:

Commercial fishing is a vital part of the economy of Lodamun, as can be seen in the thriving industry of Port Andalay. However, a completely unregulated fishing industry is prone to severe overfishing. Overfishing is ecologially dangerous to our nation's native fisheries and therefore those Lodamun citizens who rely on them. The LDP proposes an informed regulation of all fresh and seawater fishing in Lodamun waters (as defined by the "Law of the Sea," ratified July 2308).

MessageI must inform LDP that the current PFP is unlikely to support any of these new regulations it recently proposed. The LARP makes the URP look like a moderate party on economic issues, and FL's new pragmatic populism means it will likely oppose regulation like the majority of Lodamese.

MessageThe NCL is in full support of this bill. We must prevent the environment from being exposed to a viciously efficient free market. The free market will never allocate common resources (those without excludability or rival characteristics) in a manner that is sustainable.
