Bill: Public-Private Housing Cooperation Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Wealth and Prosperity Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2443
Description[?]:
The Wealth and Prosperity Party has seen an opportunity for the government to cut its infrustructure costs (and an opportunity for the party's wealthy backers some cash :D ). What we are proposing is that government begin looking at public-private partnerships to build low income housing. Currently the public sector is bogged down and inefficient, but with private partnership this sluggish inefficiency could turn a corner! This bill will have beneficial effect of fast-tracking current social housing developments, along with the added benefit of stimulating the private building sector. Should this bill pass, it would allow those awaiting low-income housing a shorting waiting period for their homes, and save the government time and resources. |

Message | Your entire premise for this bill is based on a false assertion, ie. that the State a) takes a long time to provide low income housing and b) that the State is inefficient and expensive, all of which are incorrect. Moreover, as the building companies are owned by the private sector, not the government, there would be no increase in private sector businesses in house construction as those same houses are already constructed by those same companies. The only difference that bill would make would be that whilst currently the State owns the housing and so is able to control all aspects of cost, rent, etc, that this would transfer to the provision of the private sector thusly increasing the costs to the public as the private sector attempts to increase revenue or by reducing the quality of the housing builds in order to reach the same effect. This bill would do nothing but increase costs to the tax payer whilst reducing the availability and quality of low income housing. This bill only serves one purpose, and that is selfish greed on the part of the WPP (as admitted in the bill descriptor). |
