Description[?]:
Oh Lodamun, oh Lodamun! In times gone past we looked to thee For comfort in darkest night In turmoil great and long You were our saviour, our light And should these days come again We know where we should look Back to Lodamun, our mother And we shall not take fright Oh Lodamun, oh Lodamun! The waves doth crash on white shores The hills doth sing with the wind And we rejoice to hear those sounds Dance through our morning air We joy to hear the bird song For they are the sounds of life Beating through the heart Of Lodamun, oh Lodamun (To be sang to Sir Edward Elgar's Jerusalem, see this link to hear it http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/mod/rulebritannia.html#Jerusalem) |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The lyrics of the national anthem.
Old value:: Probably none
Current:
O, Lodamun Rejoice, brothers and sisters Children of our glorious land May we restrain our resistors Their resistance we disband No foe I fear, no friend I force We propagate wholeheartedly No single feeling of Remorse affects our fraternity All the weapons of this earth Could not temper our pride Lodamun, for what it's worth Your sacred grounds we abide O, Republic that is ours Our lives are in your hands We shall maintain with all our powers Your glory, with proud stance. |
Proposed:
The Fair Hills Oh Lodamun, oh Lodamun! In times gone past we looked to thee For comfort in darkest night In turmoil great and long You were our saviour, our light And should these days come again We know where we should look Back to Lodamun, our mother And we shall not take fright Oh Lodamun, oh Lodamun! The waves doth crash on white shores The hills doth sing with the wind And we rejoice to hear those sounds Dance through our morning air We joy to hear the bird song For they are the sounds of life Beating through the heart Of Lodamun, oh Lodamun (To be sang to Sir Edward Elgar's Jerusalem) |

Date | 04:32:23, August 13, 2005 CET | From | CNT/AFL | To | Debating the The National Anthem - The Fair Hills |
Message | Well written (if you wrote the whole thing), but we still will not support this, we do not see Lodamun as having a single identity, it is more a composite of many diverse regional identities. |

Date | 06:37:44, August 13, 2005 CET | From | Adam Smith Party | To | Debating the The National Anthem - The Fair Hills |
Message | ((As Jerusalem was the school song at my school I am psychologically compelled to reject this and anything resembling it.)) We oppose. Nothing against the song apart from it being too old fashioned in style, just we do not believe that a national anthem is relevant to our nation. |

Message | A national anthem not relevant to a nation? What do we use at sporting events, ceremonies, celebrations and other civic occasions? I feel a national anthem is necessary for use on such occasions. It also acts as a unifying force between the many distinct cultures of our nation. In RL, Scotland, Walkes and England all share "God Save the Queen" as a national anthem and so , despite many cultural differences, it unites them under one banner. |

Date | 00:13:27, August 14, 2005 CET | From | National People's Gang | To | Debating the The National Anthem - The Fair Hills |
Message | Well done on the writing - but, sorry, we can't support the proposal. |
Date | 02:06:06, August 14, 2005 CET | From | Cooperative Commonwealth Federation | To | Debating the The National Anthem - The Fair Hills |
Message | I do like the anthem, and if its sole function is to be sung at international sporting events, then OK. But the Greens must oppose any attempt to create a unifying anthem for civic occasions for much the same reason as some of the other parties. If there must be a civil anthem, let it rotate among songs from each of our states. |

Random fact: Don't put "the" as the first word in your party name, because when parties are referred to in news reports, their names are preceded with "the", e.g. the [Socialist Party] has lost. |
