MessageAs a compromise I would change the background from beige to white then. To FD: Of course it is not an issue of life and death but the old flag is a pain. The new flag would incorporate our national symbols.

I don't like the Australian flag all that much but does that mean I should petition my local MP to have it changed?

MessageOP: You're taking the issue out of context but if you want to try to change the Australian flag you do in fact have the right to propose change, and if enough people want to change it, it can be changed; so to say we should disregard the motion for any reason other than for not liking the design, seems to be an attempt to get rid of a design you don't like, which is evident by the fact that you're voting 'no'; unless, of course, you're voting 'no' because you don't like that motion was made, but that's kind of silly: we've already wasted you're time, so why not vote for it if you like it?

FD: No body said this was pressing, but I don't think we're too busy to handle this.

MessageMy point was more along the lines of (which was not made clear), I don't like the Australian flag but its a symbol of my nation. Its the flag that our armed forces operate under. Its the flag which people internationally associate with my nation. Its the flag that has symbolically united my nation for 100 years. I'm don't like the way it looks but I'm not going to petition my local MP to change it because its not aestetically pleasing, which seems to be the primary motivation of this issue. I'm going to leave it be because, as much as anything else, it is Australian and nothing else.

Now replace Australia with Baltusia and 100 with 400 and MP with Senator and there you have it.

MessageOP: Understood, but eagle, motto and the five regions are also part of Baltusian tradition.
