Bill: Organ Donation Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Natural Law Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2443
Description[?]:
The shortage of donor organs is crippling the Vanukuan medical system. In nations such as our own, in which people must opt in to donate their organs after death, donation rates are about 10%. In nations where people must opt out to avoid donating their organs, the rate of donation is 90%. We should tap the vast resource of those people who do not mind donating their organs, thus saving the lives of other citizens after their own deaths, but are too apathetic or unmotivated to go out of their way to opt in to the system. This will save many lives while imposing nothing on the unwilling. |

Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning organ donations.
Old value:: Organ donations are legal with personal consent.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
