Bill: Constitutional Proposal Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Drtárék Jelbék Prta
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2446
Description[?]:
We propose that the number of representatives in the federal National Assembly is cut to a drastically lower figure. Currently Provincial Governemnt is responsible for much of what goes on in Jelbania, therefore we feel that it is unnecessary to have as many elected representatives at a Federal level as we currently do. In fact it is a gross waste of money to have as many as 501 elected Federal representatives. Therefore, as the Federal government is now primarily an institution that deals with foreign, constitutional and military affairs, and decides what is the responsibility of Federal and Provincial Government, that we cut the number of MNA's to 100. |

Message | We cannot support this bill, since this is clearly a measure that will desecrate our Constitution with the foul taint of revisionism. |

Message | 75 is too low, then it is too difficult for new parties to get seats; which is bad for our democracy |

Message | CUF the present seat arrangement does not go right back to the original constitution, which gave us 100 seats, the present option is the result of revisionism. We agree 7 may be too low, which is why we remain open to other suggestions. We feel 100 seats is an agreeable option as it means a party must pass a 1% barrier in order to gain representation. |
Date | 20:58:23, August 17, 2007 CET | From | Revolutionary Constit'nal United Front | To | Debating the Constitutional Proposal Bill |
Message | We must either maintain the current number of seats or revert back to the Constitutional provision of 100. Fabricating numbers to determine our legislative assembly, is the last thing we want to do. |

Message | We think 251 is a good option, than the number of MNA's is reduced with 50 percent seems enough to us |

Message | We agree to the seats reduction. Anyway, we think a fall from 501 to 100 we could not accept. We will support LPJ purpose. |
Date | 12:58:08, August 23, 2007 CET | From | Centre Démocratique | To | Debating the Constitutional Proposal Bill |
Message | The current number DOES have historical significance, therefore we believe it should be kept. Also, a larger number of representatives leads to better and more personal representation for our citizens AND better constituent services. We believe this is a horrible move. Some parties hear claim to care about the history of our nation, but keep on changing tradition after tradition after tradition... |
