MessageWe would rather have issues like this made certain by federal law and not rely on the discretion of lcoal authorites insofar as the environmen is such a serious international and national issue we feel it should be dealt with by national government and not the local.

MessageLocal authorities are much more likely to be aware of the local environmental situation than a centralised bureaucracy.

MessageOne does not have to be aware of a local environmental situation to ensure plantation at replacement levels. I understand the PPK's stance with the Forest Protection Bill, but with this particular proposal it makes no sense.

MessageThe law does not usurp the power of the local government, it merely requires them to replant trees after logging or other operations. Local governments are still able to decide where and when to replant the trees, they are simply required by national law to actually replant them,

Messagethe environment is an issue that should be fought at national level to have any impact in the fight against global warming.
