Bill: Religion Regulation Policy
Details
Submitted by[?]: Indigo Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2445
Description[?]:
It is a great thing to have a freedom of religion, but sometimes people go to far. With the current standings of the laws in effect, it is entirely possible that many citizens will abuse their governments allowing state of mind. For example, let's say John Doe has a dream that god is a hamster. Now John Doe goes to set up his own church about Hamster God and Raptor Jesus. Not only that, but other fanatics set up a religious school dedicated to Raptor Jesus... this is going too far. It' exactly why I am proposing these amendments to the legislation. |

Message | Of course, the CSP will always oppose any hindrances on religion whatsoever. Religious freedom, along with free speech, assembly, press, etc., is one of the core liberties necessary for maintaining a democratic society. This bill limits each of these to some degree. ooc: Nice Raptor Jesus reference, IP. zomg lolz: http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/8128/raptorair8zu.jpg http://www.prinzali.dk/uploaded_images/raptor-jesus-749809.jpg http://groped.us/ben/raptorjesus/rj2.jpg http://media.urbandictionary.com/image/large/raptorjesus-36752.jpg http://faroutshirts.com/images/raptorJesus-pnged.png I think that shit is hilarious. |

Message | "Of course, the CSP will always oppose any hindrances on religion whatsoever." Revised: unless it interferes with the state. We of course support secularism- religion doesn't involve the government, and in turn, the government shouldn't meddle with religion: two completely different spheres of life. |

Message | We don't feel that cults and fundamentalist hate groups have earned their freedom of religion. Why should radical organizations be allowed to continue to spread their undemocratic and bigoted views? It's about time that the government started doing something about these frauds. |

Message | Our only problem is with Article 2. It doesn't go nearly far enough in our opinion. Nevertheless, we will support this. |

Message | Why is that too far? If these people truly believe that taking the wrong path in religious matters would be better for them, what right do we have to stop them? |

Message | "We don't feel that cults and fundamentalist hate groups have earned their freedom of religion." Freedom of religion isn't "earned;" it's an innate right. |
