Message | Writing fiction is not a crime. Attempting to deceive the public into believing that the work of fiction is truthful and to use this to cause harm or tort to some individual or company is illegal and should remain so. i.e. libel is illegal. (( The law options are badly worded. No one is taking the current law to mean that opinion pieces are illegal. Why, because it refers to "false information" not to fiction or invented stories.)) |
Date | 17:27:46, August 13, 2005 CET | From | Cooperative Commonwealth Federation | To | Debating the Fiction is not a Crime |
Message | there is nothing in the current law that prevents the publication of opinion or non-libellous gossip. Therefore this bill is not needed. it alos proposes to abolish hate-speech regulation, without explaining why. Is that TIC's intent? |
Date | 18:54:25, August 13, 2005 CET | From | Tuesday Is Coming | To | Debating the Fiction is not a Crime |
Message | (There are no proposals to ban hate speech alone, I would like the two to be separate...) |
Date | 04:56:08, August 14, 2005 CET | From | CNT/AFL | To | Debating the Fiction is not a Crime |
Message | Pigs take to the air as we support Tuesday is Coming. There are national television and radio stations, besides Vox Pop Media, if the residents of Lodamun wish to read rags, they may, but truthful and accurate alternatives are available. Hate speech is a problem that could arise, but not a major one as we see it. We may not agree with what you say, but we will defend your right to say it. |
Date | 20:59:43, August 14, 2005 CET | From | Royal Conservative Party | To | Debating the Fiction is not a Crime |
Message | Freedom of speech must always be tolerated even if those exercising that right are speaking unsound principles or lies. If they are lies, then they will so be revealed for what they are. |
