Bill: Banking Reform

Details

Submitted by[?]: Secular Humanist party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2448

Description[?]:

Currently, all financial institutions in Telamon are private.

While we agree that private enterprise is necessary, we believe there should also be some official government provision. People need a bank they can trust. A bank which is not going to go bankrupt and take their money with it.

We believe a goverment run central bank, operating alongside private banking institutions, would help telamon greatly.

MessageA central bank would merely serve to regulate the money supply and interest rates, in our view. It should NOT serve ordinary consumers directly.
