Bill: Slander Laws

Details

Submitted by[?]: Secular Humanist party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2448

Description[?]:

our current laws state that individuals may sue over malicious falsehoods. We believe this is an unfair law, and a violation of free speech. if what someone says is false, they will be discredited for it, and people will be less likely to believe what they say in future. For the law to get involved in this matter is ludicrous.

MessageIt's a matter of freedom of speech. It's a slippery slope. Before we know it, people will be in jail for saying ill words about the government.

MessageFreedom of speech isnt limited by having the option to sue over slander, it simply makes you responsible of what you say that potentially could hurt another persons integrity.
