Bill: Trade Union Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Bull Moose Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2452

Description[?]:

Considering the disruptive actions of trade unions on businesses, we hold that all unions should be outlawed and strikes should be broken swiftly so Tukarali can go about its business with a minimum of fuss and bother.

Unions are a dinosaur in our fine nation and need to go extinct.

MessageNo. While we agree to oppose trade union excesses, we also oppose the other extremism. Workers should have the right to strike.

MessageI'm willing to compromise. Workers can still strike, but the trade unions are restricted.

FromJudicial Union Party
ToDebating the Trade Union Reform Act
MessageIn principle, we oppose the illegality of trade unions, as being contrary to freedom of association. We see no such reason to allow striking to be legal however; we liken striking to a child having a tantrum when they don't get their own way.

MessageWhoa, what? Trade unions are all that keeps our nation's workers from being completely overrun by motivation for profit. Collective bargaining allows the mass of workers to sit on equal ground with owners and work out an agreement.
Strongly, strongly against.

MessageWorkers should have the right to strike, of course. But this right should be taken along with the responsibility of getting shot by the nation's armed forces or whipped back into the fields. We are in favour of this bill.

MessageWe are confused as to who supports which portions of this bill, so we are diving this into two parts so supporters of one part can vote for whichever part they wish.
