Message | As to Article I: Our nation should never betray its citizens to the whims of a foreign government. As long as our citizens do not violate our laws, they should suffer no punishment. As to Article II: There is no more just statement of law than "An Eye for an Eye". Murderers must be punished accordingly, their degenerate lives forfeit as result of their inexcusable actions. As to Article III: Torture is a vital and necessary means of obtaining crucial information in times of crisis. To outlaw it unequivocally is to say that we care more about the comfort of the terrorist than about the lives of the citizens. |

Message | Article 1: Agreed, but for the reason that the rights of individuals should be international. Such a proclamation subsumes that our own laws are best aligned to protect these rights, but sadly that is currently not the case. Article 2: Agreed in principle, that a man that takes the life of another forfeits the right to his own. Unfortunately, our current justice system is far from perfect or omniscient, and from a moral standpoint it is far less costly to imprison a murderer for life than to put an innocent man to death. The JLC cannot support capital punishment at this time. Article 3: "Grave emergencies" is a slippery slope, and it would only be a matter of time before the law slides farther and farther away from protecting the life and rights of the individual (even prisoners). We must disagree with this proposal. |

Message | Rights of individuals are neither national or international. They exist prior to government, seperate and superior. It is the duty of government to recognize this truth, and respect the freedom of the individual. A responsible government has the duty then to protect its citizens from any foreign power which would seek to act against them, for whatever cause. It is the responsibility of those foreign powers to do the same for their citizens. A moral standpoint? It is highly immoral to take funds from the non-criminal members of society and utilize them to provide food, clothing, shelter, and recreation time to convicted murderers for the rest of their natural lives, when that same murderer could be dealt with for the cost of a single bullet or rope. If legislation allowed, We would propose that torture be allowed in emergency situations, but in cases where it is later found that the suspect was innocent, the suspect be entitled to recover substantial punitive damages. |

Message | Torture and capital punishment are useful tools for a revolutionary government. Unfortunately there is no revolutionary government. By themselves I MIGHT be able to bring myself to vote for them. But I do feel there are good reasons to extradite citizens who have broken the laws of other nations and thus I really see no choice on the matter. |

Message | Well the solution to "take funds from the non-criminal society" is to make such funding voluntary. Such was the affairs of this great nation not fifty years ago, when citizenship was a voluntary membership. The JLC must err on the side of not mistakenly killing innocents. |

Message | After consultations within our Central Committee we've decided to change our vote. A law against extradition would allow Cildania to be a safe haven from revolutionaries persecuted in other lands. |
