Message | Harsh? Taxing people for living? I support taxing people for *spending*, because I believe in the ideal that individuals should pay for the benefits they receive, and the only charity should be that which is freely chosen by the giving party. If an individual wishes not to pay sales tax, he can so choose, only paying one time, by purchasing some goats and some seeds. From the seeds he can grow his own fruits and vegetables, from the goats (obviously with some breeding) he can get milk, meat, and clothing. In this way those who *choose* to participate in society and enjoy its benefits are required to pay for their participation, but with a fairly small initial investment, they can also choose to opt out of that system. |
