Bill: Organ Donation Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Liberal Alliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2097
Description[?]:
Whilst we believe that organ donation is a good thing and seek to promote and encourage it, we do not believe that consent shouold automatically be assumed when a person dies. Whilst we realise that this helps to ease the shortage of organs, we feel that people should make a concious decision to donate their organs when they die. There is also the potential for abuse in the current system. Therefore we prpose reverting back to the previous systeem whereby personal consent was required. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning organ donations.
Old value:: Unless otherwise stated, consent is assumed.
Current: Organ donation is universal and compulsory.
Proposed: Organ donations are legal with personal consent.

Message | No.It should be compulsory. it is not right that one person can decide that some stupid superstitions of his are worth another person's life. Come back to this argument after you've lost a family member due to lack of a suitable transplant. |

Message | I changed my mind. Since the current bill doesnt force anyone to do it I think its ok. We'll get more people to donate this way and if someone really doesnt want to donate their organs, they can still change it. |
