Message | Didn't Rand say one of the few proper roles of government is to protect the society from domestic and foreign aggression? You're not representing your nomenclature very well... |

Message | First of all, the government best protects by making sure the bombs never fall. Second of all, if you want a fallout shelter in your home or business, build it. Given how inept the government is, you will probably be better off that way, even if the government has built shelters. (And on a side note, I have only read Rand's fiction, from which the phrase "Who is John Galt?" derives, not her non-fiction. Fiction is a much better vehicle for promotion of philosophy and truth than non-fiction, and the messages the author sends are not always confined to those which were meant to be sent. Reasoning minds can disagree as to what lessons should be drawn from the scenario and characters of Atlas Shrugged.) |

Message | If a government is no going to defend it's own citizens than what use is that government? If you haven't noticed the continent our nation is on is ravaged by war with nations at various times under occupation. We have a number of rather nasty fascist inspired dictatorships. Many of which possess weapons of mass destruction. If anything we need to expand our civil defense network. And if this resolution fails that is exactly what we'll propose. |
