Bill: Sénat Seat Reduction Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: 2ème PPPP

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2453

Description[?]:

So I says to myself, "How does it make any sense for this law-making body to have the strange number of 375 seats?" There aren't any rules regarding representatives per person- the only law involved here is how each region gets represented. Why don't we just make this simple and reduce our body to 100 seats total so that each party gets the same number of seats as the percentage of the population that voted for them?

MessageExactly- it doesn't even matter, so let's make it super easy to figure out majorities etc.

MessageIts not really that difficult.

Every region has 75 seats to give.
375 total seats.
2/3rds majority- 250
Simple majority- 188

100 seats means it is possible to have every party vote and a majority consensus still not be reached. That’s not possible with the current amount.

Honestly, though, we think this is just some sort of attempt to make the tiny amount of votes the PPPP has now mean more. Note that this was never proposed while the PPPP had the most power.

MessageAre you an idiot? I still have the same amount of power whether I have 10 out of 100 or 37 out of 375!

And every region does not have 75 seats; that was made more equitable a long time ago. Seat amounts for each region are based on population.
