Bill: Flat rate tax cuts
Details
Submitted by[?]: Secular Humanist party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2455
Description[?]:
We have a surplus of over seventy billion (70,000,000,000) telamon pounds. Therefore, we feel we can more than afford to cut some taxes. This proposal does two things. 1. Introduces a flat rate. All people will pay the same percentage, regardless of how much they earn. Everyone is treated fairly. This will encourage people to better themselves, and improve their situation, as they no longer have to worry about paying more tax when they earn more. Under the old system, it was quite possible for someone to get a pay rise, and end up poorer than before, because of moving into a new tax bracket. 2. Reduces the overall. Those individuals earning less than 100TPD a year will pay nothing. All others will pay an 8% flat rate. Previously, the lowest value was 10%, and people earning more were paying a higher percentage. This reduction in rate will cost the treasury fourteen billion (14, 000,000,000) Telamon pounds per year. Easily affordable with our 70 billion surplus. Tax cuts will make the people richer, and happier. And they will appreciate their government more. Under this new scheme, every single person in telamon will pay less tax than before, but the government is still more than turning a profit. |
